A guided camel ride out from camp into the open dunes, led by handlers who work with the same animals daily.
The why
Why it matters
Jaisalmer's dunes change shape with every wind, and a camel is still the only way to cross them without leaving tracks that argue with the landscape. It's slower than a jeep on purpose.
On the night
What to expect
Rides begin in the late afternoon and are timed to reach a high dune before sunset.
No riding experience is needed — handlers walk alongside for the full route.
Sessions run around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the route chosen that day.
